Academic Next Salary Review Codes

Assistant Professor Codes:  T, A, L, R
There is a lot of confusion about which codes to use for Assistant Professors.  This should clear up some of that       confusion.
ONLY regular rank Assistant Professors use the T and L codes.
T - For the 2 year term of Regular rank Assistant Professors (NOT Adjunct, Clinical Compensated, In Residence, or Clinical X)
L - For the 8 year limit of Regular rank Assistant Professors (NOT Adjunct, Clinical Compensated, In Residence, or Clinical X)
A - For the appraisal of ALL Assistant Professors
R - For the 8 year limit for any non-regular Assistant Professors (Adjunct, Clinical Compensated, In Residence, or Clinical X)

Thus, when non-regular rank Assistant Professors are appointed, their first Next Salary Review code will be A for their appraisal.
A new Regular Rank Assistant Professor will show a T as their first Next Salary Review code.
There are no codes for merits for Assistant Professors.  Upper campus is only interested in the 2 year term, Appraisal, and the 8 year limit.  Thus, non-regular rank Assistant Professors should have an A or R in the Next Salary Review Code.  Regular rank Assistant Professors will have a T, A or L.

The Next Salary Review Date for Asistant Professors (all series) is as follows:  Use the date of the year that the review is conducted.  For example:

An Assistant Professor in Residence is appointed 7/1/98.
The Next Salary Review Code and Date would be:  7/01 A  for his appraisal. After his
appraisal has been done it would change to:    7/04 R  for his 8 Year Limit review.

A Regular Rank Assistant Professor appointed 7/1/98 would be:
7/99 T - the first 2 year term renewal (also includes merit increase)
7/01 A - 4th year appraisal (also includes  2 year term renewal and merit increase)
7/03 T - 3rd 2 year term renewal (includes merit increase)
7/04 L - 8 year limit review

note: Visiting titles should not have any codes

Associate & Full Professor Codes:  M, P, S, X
The Next Salary Review Date would be the July that the action is effective.
M - Merits for Associate and full Professors
P - Promotion from Associate to full Professor
    S - Advancement to Steps 6, 7, 8, 9, and Initial Above Scale
X - Advancement to further Above Scale

Other Codes:  C, O, W
