General Information for CSCs

*  If the workstation has previously been set up for the Mission Application you do not need to run the setup for CPL Financials, simply create an shortcut for the user. (See Setup Procedures Step #6)

*  One WINS setting should be 149.142.8.9 (or add a static reference to your WINS server)

*  Server Name: SOMDEANSNTFPS (this is the PDC for SOMDEANS)

* Share Name: MEDENT

*  IP Address: 149.142.234.2

*  Domain: SOMDEANS

Text Box: Each department’s users were asked to provide us with their own network login ID(YOUR Network).  This was done so we could create the same ID on our system and ease the login process.  Keep in mind that there is a Domain ID(network) that gets them access to our server and there is an Application ID that gets them in the program.  These are different IDs and passwords.  If you are having a problem with either please call the appropriate contact:

Setup Procedures (Program )

  1. Map any drive letter to \\somdeansntfps\medent (please check “Reconnect at logon”)
    1. We’ll use [x:] as an example below, substitute your drive letter where appropriate.
  2. You will need their Network password, please contact Michael Shane (6-2889).
  3. Traverse to the directory: x:\CPL_financials\setup
  4. Run the SETUP.EXE file and accept all defaults.
  5. A re-boot should not be required, but if it makes you feel better, go ahead.
  6. You will have to manually map a shortcut (substitute your drive letter for x:):
    1. Target application: x:\CPL_financials\program\cpl_financials.exe
    2. Start In: x:\CPL_financials\program
    3. Please name the Icon: CPL Financials
  7. An Application password was given to the user during the training session.

Changing The Network Password (Please see Troubleshooting)

1.     Go to http://www.mednet.ucla.edu/

2.     Click on the "Additional Resources" button on the left

3.     Under IT Resources, click on "Change Network Password"

4.     In the 'domain' field, type somdeans

5.     Enter your username and password info in the remaining fields and click ok

Troubleshooting

*  If you get an error stating that the network cannot be found, please check that you have 149.142.8.9 set as one of your WINS servers.  If you do not want to change these, then add a static mapping to your WINS server that points to the Server and Domain listed in General Information for CSCs.

*  If a user has been set up for the HouseStaff application as well, then you do not need to map another drive, use the same mapped share (\\somdeansntfps\medent) to install and use the Budget Application.   (See Setup Procedures above, start at Traverse to the directory….)

*  OPEN ISSUE: If you are having problems changing the password:

* Try the following: “net password \\somdeansntfps” and follow the instructions.
